New Year, New Trends

2017 saw many trends come and go but the most prominent were white modern kitchens, gray and neutral tones, slick metals and structured furniture. This year’s home interior trends are focused around color, rustic flare, florals and vintage accents.

1. Color in the Kitchen

While classic white kitchens can be timeless, designers suggest adding pops of color throughout to liven up the space. Remodeling and interior decorating site, Houzz suggests adding rich color tones with warm wood elements to give your kitchen a rustic and fresh feel.

2. Vintage Lighting

2017 was the year of modern, geometric light installations. However, designers suggest that vintage light fixtures such as sconces, lanterns, pendants and chandeliers are making a comeback in 2018.

3. Retro Floral

Large floral prints can be a fun addition for wall accents, bathroom wallpaper and pool house prints.

4. Matte Finishes

Using matte for tile in bathrooms and kitchens is a great way to combine contemporary and rustic elements into your home. Matte is also extremely durable and stain resistant.

5. Mixing Metals

This trend is all about convention and reinvention. Mixing silver and gold is a design tactic that elevates silver metals by adding tones of rich gold hues.
